Agrius convolvuli (Linnaeus, 1758)

Distribution: A Paleotropical species with migratory patterns reaching Ukraine.

Bionomics: Pink-Spotted Hawk Moths are adaptable, inhabiting various open biotopes. They migrate from the south in May and June, with a more numerous local generation in August to October. They feed on nectar from fragrant flowers and lay 100-200 eggs on Convolvulus, Calystegia, and Ipomoea leaves. Larvae are active from July to September. Pupation occurs in the soil.

Abundance and Conservation: Numerous in the south of Ukraine, abundance varies in different regions based on migration intensity. Given its non-resident status, specific conservation efforts are impractical.
