Hyles hippophaes (Esper, 1789)

Distribution: Found in regions from southern Europe to Central Asia. Expanding westwards in Ukraine.

Bionomics: Xerothermophilic species confined to oleaster thickets. Univoltine, with adults present in June–July. Active at dusk and night, feeding on oleaster nectar. Caterpillars feed on various plants. Pupation occurs in the soil.

Abundance and Conservation: Expanding its range westwards in Ukraine, conservation efforts may become necessary if its population size is threatened.
