Bedstraw hawkmoth

Hyles galii (Rottemburg, 1775) 

Distribution: Holarctic species, widespread in temperate Eurasia and North America, including Ukraine.

Bionomics: A mesophilic species found in meadows, forest edges, and clearings. Bivoltine, with adults present in May–June and August–September. Active during the night, feeding on flower nectar. Caterpillars primarily feed on willowherb and bedstraw. Pupation occurs in the soil.

Abundance and Conservation: Common throughout Ukraine with stable populations, requiring no special conservation efforts.
