Aanika Valliani and Anatoliy Vityuk
The idea for this blog belongs to student Aanika Valliani (Palo Alto, California, USA).
Taking pictures of butterflies and admiring their beauty, Aanika, together with her grandfather, a naturalist photographer Anatoliy Vityuk (Khmelnytskyi, Ukraine), decided to turn their hobby into an interesting project to study the diversity and distribution of the Ukrainian fauna.

YURII HERIAK
PhD in Biology, researcher at the Department of Natural Ecosystems Protection at the Institute of Carpathian Ecology of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine and leading researcher at the scientific department of the Boykivshchyna National Nature Park. I study the Lepidoptera of Ukraine. I am most interested in the representatives of the superfamily Noctuoidea, in particular, in the peculiarities of their distribution and autecology. At the same time, I do not ignore other taxonomic groups of Lepidoptera of the Ukrainian fauna, including Sphingidae, which I have been fascinated by since childhood.
The main photos were taken by Aanika Valliani and Anatoliy Vityuk.
The scholarly essays and lists of literary sources about the sphingidae were prepared by YURII HERIAK, and the short stories (for children) by Nelli Malyovana.
We express our sincere gratitude to our colleagues, professional and amateur entomologists, for their help in collecting material and companionship during field studies of the lepidoptera of Ukraine, as well as information on the distribution and autecological features of individual species of sphingidae:
